About the destination: Maputo is the capital city of Mozambique. It is the largest city in Mozambique and the country's most important harbor. It is situated at the mouth of the Santo River in the extreme south, 90 km from the border with South Africa. The city’s urban area feels small and concentrated, with wide avenues and old trees. Maputo’s vibe is healthy and active, with lots of street vendors and markets. Buildings throughout the city range from old colonial palaces to new high-rise constructions, but the dominant architecture consists of Stalinist-looking concrete-walled boxes, generally with badly eroded paint and rusty security bars. Fortunately, these tend to fade into the background, and there are enough buildings with old charm and lush enough gardens to give a pleasing if shabby feel. Especially outstanding buildings which shouldn't be missed are the Pancho Guedes creations: Guadiesque, surreal and difficult to find. Maputo is a big, modern city with a beautiful skyline and harbor, wonderful old buildings and tree-lined avenues full of life and culture.

About the destination: Inhambane, also known as Terra de Boa Gente (Land of Good People), is a city located in southern Mozambique, lying on Inhambane Bay, 470 km northeast of Maputo. It is the capital of the Inhambane Province and according to the 2008 census has a population of 65,837, growing from the 1997 census of 54,157. It is a sleepy historic town known for its rusting colonial architecture and has been popular with tourists in recent years. The settlement owes its existence to a deep inlet into which the small Mutamba River flows. Two protective sandy headlands protect the harbor and form a sandbank. The town of Maxixe is located across the bay.

About the destination: Beira is the second largest city and an important port city in Mozambique. The city has seen better times, but it still has nice hotels, restaurants, beaches and some interesting shops. Beira is a good base for going to the Grand Etang forest reserve. The most interesting landmarks in Beira are the Cathedral of Beira and the Grande Hotel Beira, a former luxury hotel which once was known as the "pride of Africa". The most fashionable part of town is Macuti Beach, with its famous lighthouse. Visitors to Beira will discover a beautiful, but crumbling, city by the sea with great food and hospitality.
